Black Friday deals you need to know

It’s Black Friday tomorrow and some retailers have already started and are stretching out over this weekend up to Cyber Monday! Here’s some tips, tricks and discount codes that you NEED to take advantage of!

Selfridges Christmas Comes Early

Selfridges annual crazy sale has started today! Aside from Boxing day, this is something you NEED to take advantage of. Use¬†the discount code ‘SELFCCE‘ for 20% off online or screen grab the barcode here to use it in store. Valid from 24th Nov – 27th. Unfortunately, not all brands are covered and it’s only 10% off beauty. Check out the excluded list here. It’s mostly the luxury brands that aren’t included e.g. Chanel, LV, Gucci etc.

VIPs get a notification a day early. But if you download the Selfridges app or follow them on social media you’ll be the first of the masses to know!

Here’s some great gift ideas for her, him, and me:

If you are looking for discounts on luxury designer brands then you need…

Black Friday at

Flannels is known as the shop on the high street that stocks only luxury designers, but online you can get 20% off everything with the discount code ‘BF20‘ and get an extra ¬£40 off when you spend over ¬£200! Here you can snap up a pair of classic coloured Jimmy Choos, or the latest Gucci wear.

Gift ideas for yourself (Classic investment piece), for her, and for me:

The best for beauty…

You can get 10% off beauty and free shipping off everything on their website. Their loyalty card is a great way to earn points and get seasonal rewards if you love their exclusive brands.

Gift ideas for you (a lust purchase… party shoes?!), for her and him:

Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet

What’s better than Black Friday sales? Black Friday sales ON TOP of outlet prices! I signed up for the VIP card and also the invitation for the Black Friday offers pre sales, and one hour I was there was NOT enough! Unfortunately, there wasn’t any Black Friday offers that I was interested in but the sales they already had there already was amazing! 50% off everything on top of outlet prices at All Saints Outlet and 25% off everything at Radley Outlet, I couldn’t pass up some leather cleaning products that keep your leather in tip top condition! The Kooples outlet has just opened last Friday, and the cuts are just the prefect shape for my body.

Why don’t you ever see prestigious brands on sale like Chanel and Christian Louboutin?

Because their in such demand that they tend to sell out before much of it can make it to a sale. Also, their brand is so well known and their clientele is the rich, so they wouldn’t ever put a sale price on any items. Chanel¬†tend to put everything away in the back, so if a customer requests anything they can bring it out right away.

Get cash back during your online shop

Save more shopping the sales from the comfort of your own home with TopCashBack. You shop through their website and receive cash back straight to your account! Unfortunately, it can take up to a month to receive the money and the majority of the time you cannot use it in conjunction with any other offers. It’s great if you’re renewing your insurance anytime soon or buying a new phone/Sky/broadband line.

Use this referral link here and receive a £5 amazon gift card!

Why You Need Some ‘Me’ Time

So if you’ve ever been in a long term relationship or hanging out with anyone all the time. You need a little ‘me’ time to recuperate, and that’s okay!

Get comfortable with your relationship

If you’re not comfortable with all the ‘poop’ talk yet, then get on with it! You can’t hold that shit in (literally!) It’s bad for your body and you’ll be getting stomach aches for the most horrible of reasons. If your partner cares about you enough, they would want you to do it!

Why you need ‘me’ time

I call it ‘pamper time’. It’s the time that you take to do all your maintenance: Hair removal (from everywhere), Face masks, Hair masks, all of the above that takes longer than your usual daily routine. Taking a little breath¬†to do this so you can relax and enjoy it, is when you can take a step out of your busy schedule to rejuvenate and THEN¬†hop straight back into it. Having a moment to yourself is refreshing, as wearing yourself out from the daily grind can really affect your health. Overworking is a real thing! Have you read ‘How Heavy Is A Glass Of Water?‘ It puts into perspective that you need to take a break every now and again¬†before you¬†‘pick up that glass of water’ again. Everyone will benefit from you being in a good mood after it!

Pamper yourself

How do you let them know you want a little time for yourself? Just tell them straight up! I prefer my friends being upfront with me. None of the long winded excuses or you’ll just put me off hanging out with you in the future. Can’t say it seriously? Make it into a joke! Have a chill. Your friends will love you for who you are, and taking a few hours out to be alone is perfectly fine. You might not realise it, but at least one of your friends has turned down a plan to have their own pamper!

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation – is it really magic??

When celebrities favourite make up artist Charlotte Tilbury finally released her own skincare and make up range, people were like ‘finally!’ now everyone can own a little make up magic!

So after using Estee Lauder’s Double wear foundation, I wanted something with a more natural finish. I wanted to switch it up after going through two bottles of Double wear, and I couldn’t find anything I fancied in the usual pharmaceutical stores. So, when the new launch of the range opened in my local John Lewis after seeing it in Selfridges, I thought I’d give it a go. And WOW…

It’s a lot smoother and less thick as Double wear, but I hope it lasted as long and had good coverage. I was right, it stayed on a full day of wear and is buildable. Unfortunately if I do put on too much the shade is visibly a lot darker, which is a no-no because just my face looked tanned! But the application to the skin is like SILK, it caresses on and then blends seamlessly. I just pat over with a small sponge to finish and some powder to set.

Double wear takes a little longer to work into the skin being a thicker consistency, so being thinner it involved a lot less blending. Although they both will streak if you don’t apply it correctly, you just need to take the time to get that flawless finish.

Overall, I think it’s best being used with the full skincare prep with the magic cream and Wonderglow primer so you have the proper moisture and barrier. Unfortunately it’s all adds up to a big spend, but using the foundation alone causes break outs and blocked pores a lot easier on my skin regardless of how much cleansing and exfoliation I do.

Life so far being twenty something

So I recently hit twenty four¬†and now I’ve realised I have to stop being a student and scrimping all of the discounts, life isn’t too bad after all. This is what I’ve learnt so far…

life advice for twenty somethings

Don’t compare your life to others

If you really wanted to play that game then let me introduce you to the CEO of Snapchat¬†who is on the list of the worlds youngest billionaires. Some people are just lucky, some worked their asses off, but ultimately they didn’t do it in a day, nor being unproductive and procrastinating. So get yourself out there and active with the community!

Start saving

Pay off your debts and start saving for a mortgage and your pension. The earlier you start the more money you’ll have to tap into when you retire. It seems a way off but if you think about it, just putting ¬£1 away everyday can save up for many things! Struggle with budgeting? Download a budgeting app or do it the old fashioned way on pen and paper, there’s even printable booklets that you can DIY.

But get out of the country

If you’ve never left your door step, it’s the perfect time to go travelling. You may not feel the need to leave your bubble now, but get that travel bug out of the way whilst you can! Before you’re tied down with anything, take advantage of your freedom and spontaneity. Go and see sights that you think look amazing on the screen, actually being there in person always has a different effect that seeing it on a tiny screen.

Wear sunscreen

You always hear about it but the sun can damage the skin so badly, it doesn’t affect your tan and doesn’t hurt to slap a bit on before you head out of the house! Team it with a bottle of water in your bag for you to sip through out the day and your body will thank you for it!

Put yourself first

Never settle for the second best in anything, always try your best to work harder and even in terms of relationships. You’ll get to a point in your life when you realise you have to sift through your friend list and pick out the friends that you think are worth keeping in contact with. If there’s effort made on both ends, then you have a relationship worth keeping. Even romantic relationships, if you aren’t both seeing eye to eye with the priorities in your life then maybe it’s not the right time to be in a relationship. C’est la vie!

Go out there and get em!

When do I need to start using an anti-wrinkle cream?

It’s always being glamourised on TV commercials showing celebrities and older ladies with airbrushed and smoothed out wrinkles. Anti-wrinkle creams are always being shoved in our faces by media, but when do we actually need to use them??

When to use anti-wrinkle cream
Everyone wants baby soft skin!

When to use an anti-wrinkle cream

Always start with a good skin care routine and my staple base that I always preach about; hydration and a balanced diet! Combine that with a great cleansing routine and then we can get down to business, otherwise you’ll be expecting miracles when it won’t happen!

I’ve read mixed reviews about sleeping in your make up and not cleansing properly. Some say it doesn’t affect your skin, other say it dramatically ages it. But either way, removing any impurities from your face will allow any anti-wrinkle treatment, or even serum and moisturiser to sink in and really work. So make it your mission to find the right cleansing routine to suit your skin and remove all traces of your make up.

Prevention is key

Ask any skin care expert and they will always recommend a sun screen, or product with SPF. The UV rays found all year round are one of the main factors of skin ageing. So using an SPF moisturiser¬†on your face every morning is a must, even if you feel like your skin has enough moisture or is too oily. There’s a great range available for all types of skin! The SPF reduces the effects of UV rays and the moisturiser keeps your skin hydrated and plump!

I’ve noticed a wrinkle! What do I do?

Don’t panic. Yes, it may be unfortunate that you will not be able to erase it now you have it. But it isn’t the end of the world either. We start to lose our skin elasticity at the age of around 21, some people as young as 18 or if you’re lucky 24 will start to notice a reduction in firmness. This is what causes wrinkles. The most common places are around your eye area, where the skin is most delicate; your mouth too, and forehead. So, what do you do? Let’s back track a little and return back to basics. You’ve been using your SPF moisturiser religiously and possibly even wearing sunglasses and a hat whenever you can, but¬†the eye wrinkles are¬†still there! Have you considered an eye cream? This is specifically targeted for that area and may even come with cooling application tools to reduce puffiness.

So you’re telling me I don’t need anti-wrinkle cream until it’s too late?

Basically, yes. Your body can’t tell you what is wrong with it, it shows you. You don’t need collagen and retinol when your body is already producing enough of it. But if you have the funds to use expensive anti-wrinkle creams, then go for it. It’s a process that you will need to upkeep for as long as you want to keep the wrinkles away for, so by stopping it or having an un-regular use of it will make it less effective. And let’s face it, there’s always fillers and Botox if you’re really unhappy and want instant results. I wouldn’t always turn¬†cosmetic surgery, but you need to do your own extensive research as to where to spend your money if you want immediate results.

3 Step Complete Skin Detox

Struggling with blocked pores and uneven skin? Sometimes just using a face wipe and water to clean your face after a whole day of make up isn’t enough! Here’s how to refresh your tired, clogged skin and perk it up…

Sometimes just washing with soap and water isn’t enough. – Photo By Alja via

Starting to get breakouts amongst the surface layers? Maybe you need a complete detox. But don’t panic, just remove your make up as usual and follow theses few steps:

Step 1 РCleanse your skin using a micelle cleanser.

The french were doing it before us, that’s why people travelled far and wide to stock up there! They really do lift off all of the remaining make up that you miss with the make up wipes, so then you can get to the real deep cleaning.

BIODERMA Sébium H2O Purifying Cleansing Micelle Solution 250ml
BIODERMA Sébium H2O Purifying Cleansing Micelle Solution 250ml for Oily/Combination skin Р£10.20

I use the green bottle from the Bioderma collection as I have combination skin, so it doesn’t leave it greasy or too tight. But for the people who need the extra hydration, the blue one is perfect. Or if you have sensitive skin, try the pink one. They even do half sizes at for ¬£4.80, for the perfect trial or travel companion.

Step 2 – Steam.

Open up your pores for the cleanser to work and really get into the deeper layers. You don’t even need to invest in a fancy face steamer, you can do the ol’ towel over a bowl of hot water trick or just soak in a hot bath.

Elle by Beurer FCE 70 Elle Ionic Facial Steamer.
Elle by Beurer FCE 70 Elle Ionic Facial Steamer. Exclusive to online only £69.99

Elle magazine have steamed up with Beurer to create the perfect and innovative facial steamer with ION enriched steam! No need to stick our face in intimidating facial steamers, you simply place your face near the steam and it gets to work! Still not convinced? Try a steam room!

Step 3 – Exfoliate.

Hopefully you’ve read about how to choose an exfoliator without killing the environment in my last skin care post here. If not, please take some time to savvy up about not using plastic micro beads!

Use an exfoliator twice a week to stop the build up of dirt, and then look for the perfect over night exfoliator for your skin. It’s a bit of trial and error but here’s my favourite:

Eau Thermale Avène TriAcnéal Treatment Cream 30ml
Eau Thermale Avène TriAcnéal Treatment Cream 30ml Р£23

The twice weekly exfoliating scrub is most important but teamed with an over night resurfacer and you’ve got a dream team! The¬†Eau Thermale Av√®ne TriAcn√©al Treatment Cream has¬†Glycolic acid so it’s a perfect gentle over night skin peel, so you wake up to clear and clean skin.

Although the skin is the last organ to benefit from anything you consume, always keeping hydrated with water is very important! Read my¬†feeling good from within post here. Miyake did a test with a collagen drink and found that her skin benefitted, but it isn’t necessary. So you don’t NEED to spend ¬£¬£¬£ on supplements, but you can check them out here.

Repeat wheres necessary, but I tend to see results within 24 – 48 hours when I’ve skipped any of theses steps for too long!

What’s your favourite face product? Ever tried any of the ones mentioned? Let us know in the comments below, and follow & subscribe for more.

Happy skin, happy you!
