When celebrities favourite make up artist Charlotte Tilbury finally released her own skincare and make up range, people were like ‘finally!’ now everyone can own a little make up magic!
So after using Estee Lauder’s Double wear foundation, I wanted something with a more natural finish. I wanted to switch it up after going through two bottles of Double wear, and I couldn’t find anything I fancied in the usual pharmaceutical stores. So, when the new launch of the range opened in my local John Lewis after seeing it in Selfridges, I thought I’d give it a go. And WOW…
It’s a lot smoother and less thick as Double wear, but I hope it lasted as long and had good coverage. I was right, it stayed on a full day of wear and is buildable. Unfortunately if I do put on too much the shade is visibly a lot darker, which is a no-no because just my face looked tanned! But the application to the skin is like SILK, it caresses on and then blends seamlessly. I just pat over with a small sponge to finish and some powder to set.
Double wear takes a little longer to work into the skin being a thicker consistency, so being thinner it involved a lot less blending. Although they both will streak if you don’t apply it correctly, you just need to take the time to get that flawless finish.
Overall, I think it’s best being used with the full skincare prep with the magic cream and Wonderglow primer so you have the proper moisture and barrier. Unfortunately it’s all adds up to a big spend, but using the foundation alone causes break outs and blocked pores a lot easier on my skin regardless of how much cleansing and exfoliation I do.

Struggling with blocked pores and uneven skin? Sometimes just using a face wipe and water to clean your face after a whole day of make up isn’t enough! Here’s how to refresh your tired, clogged skin and perk it up…
Starting to get breakouts amongst the surface layers? Maybe you need a complete detox. But don’t panic, just remove your make up as usual and follow theses few steps:
Step 1 – Cleanse your skin using a micelle cleanser.
The french were doing it before us, that’s why people travelled far and wide to stock up there! They really do lift off all of the remaining make up that you miss with the make up wipes, so then you can get to the real deep cleaning.
I use the green bottle from the Bioderma collection as I have combination skin, so it doesn’t leave it greasy or too tight. But for the people who need the extra hydration, the blue one is perfect. Or if you have sensitive skin, try the pink one. They even do half sizes at FeelUnique.com for £4.80, for the perfect trial or travel companion.
Step 2 – Steam.
Open up your pores for the cleanser to work and really get into the deeper layers. You don’t even need to invest in a fancy face steamer, you can do the ol’ towel over a bowl of hot water trick or just soak in a hot bath.
Elle magazine have steamed up with Beurer to create the perfect and innovative facial steamer with ION enriched steam! No need to stick our face in intimidating facial steamers, you simply place your face near the steam and it gets to work! Still not convinced? Try a steam room!
Step 3 – Exfoliate.
Hopefully you’ve read about how to choose an exfoliator without killing the environment in my last skin care post here. If not, please take some time to savvy up about not using plastic micro beads!
Use an exfoliator twice a week to stop the build up of dirt, and then look for the perfect over night exfoliator for your skin. It’s a bit of trial and error but here’s my favourite:
The twice weekly exfoliating scrub is most important but teamed with an over night resurfacer and you’ve got a dream team! The Eau Thermale Avène TriAcnéal Treatment Cream has Glycolic acid so it’s a perfect gentle over night skin peel, so you wake up to clear and clean skin.
Although the skin is the last organ to benefit from anything you consume, always keeping hydrated with water is very important! Read my feeling good from within post here. Miyake did a test with a collagen drink and found that her skin benefitted, but it isn’t necessary. So you don’t NEED to spend £££ on supplements, but you can check them out here.
Repeat wheres necessary, but I tend to see results within 24 – 48 hours when I’ve skipped any of theses steps for too long!

We all have eyebrows, so if you only had time to put on one item of make up, make it your brows!
Makes a huge difference right? It frames the eyes, and we all know how important it is to define the eyes on your face, it makes everything pop and draws attention to your features.
Even this quick 15 min make up for daytime wear and super easy and made quicker and easier with my current favourite eyebrow pencil Shiseido Majolica Majorca brow customise (sword cut) and holder. You can clip on any shade you want and you don’t need to sharpen it! The angled sword cut shape lets you swoop it on in one go. It might not be as detailed as drawing your eyebrows on one hair at a time, but it’s great for quick and soft eyebrows so you can be on your way.
Check out my daily make up routine to see how I team it with an eyebrow brush for the perfect angled brow.
I thought they would be a brilliant way to get natural looking longer lashes. Seems I was wrong. I loved the length, it was very glam. However, it was not quite for me. I prefer a shorter length, more volume, and the option to take them off at the end of the day! As an avid lover of longer lashes, I envy people with a naturally longer set. Unfortunaty mine are very short and non existent without, so I need the little bump in length. They lasted a total of 6hs of fun before I realised they were really imparting my vision and becoming an irritant. It was soon removed with eyelash extensions glue remover. Not being a fan of the spider legs like look, I think I’ll stick with lash strips, but I have learnt from the experience and taken a liking to eyebrow tinting.
Sometimes what a great idea at first, ends up being the worst. Cest le vie. Rinniboo
They’re just like a lip gloss however it’s very pigmented so it looks like you’ve got a lovely layer of colour on with a gloss on top. What’s so great? It stays on FOREVER.
At £21.50 it’s more expensive than the drugstore dupe Maybelline 24 Superstay lip colour (£8.99) It’s pricey, but after my experience with lip liners this was an impulse buy that I’ve instantly fallen in love with.
What Estée Lauder say:
The liquid light of lacquer. The full impact of lipstick.
Richly pigmented lip lacquer creates luscious, wet, brilliant colour. Provides the full coverage of lipstick with the ultra shine of lacquer.
6-hour colour brilliance. Glides on smoothly and evenly with an instant intensity. Use the tip to create lip-shaping curves, then the paddle to fill in colour and shine.
Creamy and moisture-rich with a lip-caring blend of Vitamins C, E and conditioners. Lips feel hydrated and comfortable.
THE LIQUID LIGHT OF LACQUER. THE IMPACT OF LIPSTICK.
UNIQUE PADDLE WITH A CENTRE CURVE TO HOLD MORE LACQUER.
It first appears super thick and syrupy, but once you get past that and apply. It soon dries and really stays on your lips all day. Not only the colour but the high shine gloss look. So it’s perfect if you’re like me that when I apply a lip stick, I also like a good layer of gloss to finish the look, so the super stay gloss finish is perfect! Even when eating and drinking it doesn’t budge, but I’d obviously recommend having it hand to reapply after to neaten it up.
Finally, it comes straight off with some baby oil!
