3 Step Complete Skin Detox

Struggling with blocked pores and uneven skin? Sometimes just using a face wipe and water to clean your face after a whole day of make up isn’t enough! Here’s how to refresh your tired, clogged skin and perk it up…

Starting to get breakouts amongst the surface layers? Maybe you need a complete detox. But don’t panic, just remove your make up as usual and follow theses few steps:

Step 1 – Cleanse your skin using a micelle cleanser.

The french were doing it before us, that’s why people travelled far and wide to stock up there! They really do lift off all of the remaining make up that you miss with the make up wipes, so then you can get to the real deep cleaning.

BIODERMA Sébium H2O Purifying Cleansing Micelle Solution 250ml
BIODERMA Sébium H2O Purifying Cleansing Micelle Solution 250ml for Oily/Combination skin – £10.20

I use the green bottle from the Bioderma collection as I have combination skin, so it doesn’t leave it greasy or too tight. But for the people who need the extra hydration, the blue one is perfect. Or if you have sensitive skin, try the pink one. They even do half sizes at FeelUnique.com for £4.80, for the perfect trial or travel companion.

Step 2 – Steam.

Open up your pores for the cleanser to work and really get into the deeper layers. You don’t even need to invest in a fancy face steamer, you can do the ol’ towel over a bowl of hot water trick or just soak in a hot bath.

Elle magazine have steamed up with Beurer to create the perfect and innovative facial steamer with ION enriched steam! No need to stick our face in intimidating facial steamers, you simply place your face near the steam and it gets to work! Still not convinced? Try a steam room!

Step 3 – Exfoliate.

Hopefully you’ve read about how to choose an exfoliator without killing the environment in my last skin care post here. If not, please take some time to savvy up about not using plastic micro beads!

Use an exfoliator twice a week to stop the build up of dirt, and then look for the perfect over night exfoliator for your skin. It’s a bit of trial and error but here’s my favourite:

Eau Thermale Avène TriAcnéal Treatment Cream 30ml
Eau Thermale Avène TriAcnéal Treatment Cream 30ml – £23

The twice weekly exfoliating scrub is most important but teamed with an over night resurfacer and you’ve got a dream team! The Eau Thermale Avène TriAcnéal Treatment Cream has Glycolic acid so it’s a perfect gentle over night skin peel, so you wake up to clear and clean skin.

Although the skin is the last organ to benefit from anything you consume, always keeping hydrated with water is very important! Read my feeling good from within post here. Miyake did a test with a collagen drink and found that her skin benefitted, but it isn’t necessary. So you don’t NEED to spend £££ on supplements, but you can check them out here.

Repeat wheres necessary, but I tend to see results within 24 – 48 hours when I’ve skipped any of theses steps for too long!

What’s your favourite face product? Ever tried any of the ones mentioned? Let us know in the comments below, and follow & subscribe for more.

Happy skin, happy you!
