Finding a lot more hairs are falling out when you brush it? Getting weird headaches? This might be due to that recent stressful period you’ve had.
Getting stressed about work or with someone? Stop and take a few deep breaths. A great way to de-stress is to take yourself out of the environment and immerse yourself in the calm and serenity of meditation, or focusing on getting your new personal best at spin class.
Meditation doesn’t have to be long spiritual moment, you could just be having a short 5 minute space to yourself. Block out all of your surroundings and thoughts going through your head and focus solely on your breathing. It takes a little practice to zone into this tranquil bubble but you’ll be amazed at how relaxed you feel after.
If you feel the stress comes from a specific environment, for example – the London tube or your work place – then make the change, even if it’s to look forward to that holiday you’re booking, or that new barrecore class you’re taking up, or cycling to and from work instead.
Ultimately, never neglect your sleep and food. Lack of either of them will cause all sorts of hormonal imbalances, making you moody (hangry anyone?), breakout, alter the efficiency of your body, and feel all the more dreadful. Paring it with exercise will make you feel more energised and ready to tackle the day.
There’s even evidence that stress and meditation can effect your DNA.
